Top tips to turn your staffroom from drab to fab.

The staffroom. A place for collaboration and communication.

Where teachers can find support from their colleagues, whether seeking advice on classroom management or to discuss challenges they are facing.

Most importantly, it offers quiet respite away from the emotional and physical demands of teaching. Where teachers can take a quick break (if they are lucky) to relax (hopefully) and focus on their own wellbeing.

But how do we make sure it’s the sanctuary it’s supposed to be?

Here are Winc Education Expert, Kirsten Hayward’s top five tips for making the staffroom a place of joy:

  1. Use a pinboard. Placed in a highly visible area, a pinboard is a great place for teachers to share activity ideas and success stories about what has worked well in their classrooms.
  2. Add colour. This is an easy way to turn your staffroom from drab to fab. Think art prints or a birthday wall. Anything really that helps to create a more visually stimulating space.
  3. Make sure you have comfortable seating. Most teachers spend the majority of their day standing so a few comfortable sofas are a must for relaxing during that valuable down time.
  4. Stock up on cleaning and hygiene products. Keep your staffroom fresh and sparkling with what you need to clean up spills and disinfect surfaces. automatic air fresheners essential oils are a great way to instantly transform a space.
  5. A staffroom makeover! Seem out of reach? Read on for how you could win a makeover for your school or early learning centre staffroom and reach #1 teacher status!
