Three major office furniture trends.

Office furniture is more than just a workplace necessity, it plays a huge role in employee comfort, productivity, and even how your workplace’s culture is conveyed. From the boardroom to the communal kitchen, careful consideration should be given to functionality, ergonomics and space.

Knowing where to start when fitting out a workplace can be challenging. So we asked Terry-Lee Smith, Category Manager – Furniture at Winc to share her top three office furniture trends.

1.  Ergonomics is the standard.

“Workplaces are increasingly prioritising ergonomic design to support employee wellbeing and reduce physical strain, such as back pain, by reviewing seating and desk options.

“Beyond comfort, employers have a responsibility to provide a safe working environment and to minimise the risk of injury through well designed workspaces,” advises Terry-Lee.

Consider the Buro Seating Buro NX Mesh Chair Grey with Black Frame with 2D Arms which has been designed for all day support. It features height adjustability, built-in lumbar support to encourage better posture and 2D adjustable armrests with polyurethane pads for personalised comfort.

When it comes to desk choice, Terry-Lee adds, “Electric height-adjustable workstations are becoming popular, helping promote movement throughout the day. They can also help improve concentration and productivity.”

The Rapidline Boost Plus Single Workstation 1500w Natural White/White is a great option to help reduce aching legs and sore backs. It features dual motors, anti-collision and anti-tilt technology, and a digital control panel with three pre-set positions.

2. Biophilic design.

“Many workplaces are embracing ‘nature indoors’ by incorporating natural light and indoor greenery, using plants to enhance humidity and create a healthier environment. Natural elements can also increase creativity and foster happiness which can be amplified through textures, colours and sounds.

“The addition of planter box storage options, planter walls and vertical gardens can give workplaces the feeling of being closer to nature,” shared Terry-Lee.

For a quick and easy option, the OLG Axis Planter Wall 2000 X 1000 X 200mm will bring a touch of nature into your office. It’s not just a divider, it’s a subtle, stylish addition that creates a serene environment.

3. Adaptable furniture that is mobile.

“Workplaces require flexibility, especially when in-office team member numbers fluctuate or if a layout needs to be rejigged. Adaptable furniture that has wheels or is foldable can adjust quickly, making a workplace agile and able to evolve with the changing business needs,” said Terry-Lee.

The Dal Urbin Stackable Chair with Mesh Back and 4 Leg On Glides In Black can easily be moved anywhere and is stackable up to 3 chairs high for easy storage and space-saving.

Alternatively, give your team flexible storage options with the Steelco Trimline Mobile Pedestals, perfect for tucking away under any office desk, providing convenient and secure storage without compromising on aesthetics. It’s also equipped with five lockable castor wheels for stability.
