Electronic waste (e-waste) management with Winc

Electronic waste (e-waste) is any type of equipment with a plug, battery or power cord that has been discarded as waste without the intention of re-use. According to Sustainability Victoria, the amount of electronic waste (e-waste) created nationally is growing three times faster than the rate of standard municipal waste. E-waste contains potentially hazardous and valuable materials, which could be reused instead of adding to landfill. To help protect the environment and recycle more precious resources, the Victorian Government has now banned all e-waste from going to landfill (as of 1 July 2019).

 Items considered as e-waste

Here are some top examples of items classified as e-waste:

Computers – desktops, monitors, laptops and printers, computer peripherals
• Home and home office equipment – photocopiers, fax machines, scanners, servers, projectors, DVD players and video recorders
• Electronic games, CDs, DVDs, tapes and cameras
• Televisions, electronic components, phones – mobiles and landlines
• Small household appliances – vacuum cleaners, microwaves, stereos, and pedestal fans
• Power tools – drills, circular saws and power boards, electric lawnmowers, electric trimmers, electric leaf blowers

How can you make your e-waste work for you?

At Winc we provide businesses a tailored IT Life Cycle Management solution. This management solution can help reduce the cost and complexity of IT management from the time of purchase until asset disposal, managing corporate risk and Government compliance and increasing the return on across your assets.

Our services adhere to international best practice standards by our onsite technicians and in our independently audited facilities. Old IT assets such as PC equipment, devices, enterprise servers, storage systems, photocopiers, printers, networking products, IT monitors and TV’s may still hold value, so you’ll want to check what they’re worth before sending them off to be recycled.

Discover the benefits of our IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) program

Our IT Asset Disposal (ITAD) program can put a value on your old IT assets, providing you with a credit to put towards new/replacement assets and/or future Winc purchases.

Here’s how it works – we’ll collect and transport your unused IT assets to our nominated IT Asset Disposal depot where they will be graded, processed, sanitised and disposed of via Remarketing, Lease Return, Redeployment, Staff Purchasing Program or Charity Donation.

If for some reason your e-waste cannot be recycled in the above way, Winc can also provide an environmentally friendly recycling service for any item that has no commercial resale value (due to age or condition). Our program guarantees “minimal landfill” and involves detailed disassembly of each item of equipment, with various components then sold to specialist recyclers around the world i.e. circuit boards, batteries, precious metals etc.  Due to the labour-intensive nature of this solution, disposal comes at a “per unit” cost.
